Improve your essay

Examine your partner's essay.
Grade according to the essay assessment instrument, which is on the right.  As you grade, think about the following questions.

        Is there a clear knowledge question?
        Does the knowledge question relate to the essay title?
        Does the writer use the knowledge question throughout the essay?
        Are there clear definitions of the word good?
        The definitions of good should not come from the dictionary directly.
        What areas of knowledge are used in the essay?
        Are there clear real-life examples?
        Do these examples support the claims the writer makes?
        Does the essay contain clear perspectives linked to the knowledge question?
        Are there clear claims and counterclaims?
·                            Is the essay clear and comprehensibleP
        Does the writer draw out clear implications from the arguments in the essay?
